Counting Calories and the Raw Food Diet
Counting calories does not have to be a chore. In fact, this short article is about a resource for quickly referencing caloric content for just about any food that can come to mind. This comes in handy if you are keeping a food diary. It also is related to a website that discusses eating healthy by eating a raw food diet.
You may have heard about eating a strict diet of mostly raw fruits and raw vegetables (generally considered to be the basis for a raw food diet regimen). Some people also like to juice-fast, or get most of their nutrition via juices. The problem with this is that juices are very dense and contain bunches of calories.
One website I like to use to learn about food calories is Calorie King.com. You can read all about being a raw foodist at the RawFoodistGuide.com, and then use Calorie King to start learning the calorie content of various raw foods. Even if you are not thrilled about counting calories, it probably is a good thing to learn what calorie counting is all about, and the best way to do this is to keep a diary for some time to see what you are actually putting in your body. Most successful dieters eat similar meals over and over.
These meals don’t have to be boring and you most likey will find that you like the foods you choose. It’s also better to eat several smaller meals throughout the day, say like every 3 hours.
Many people think that by eating a raw food diet, or juicing, your raw fruits and vegetables negates the need for watching those calories. However, you may find that you can stuff lots of calorie-dense foods and although you don’t feel you are overeating, you will end up consuming extra calories.
You can consume lots of calories in juice, and therefore end up drinking too many calories. The Calorie King website is easy to use and has drop down boxes that shows the different ways to measure food and calorie consumption.
“Control your weight or your weight will control you…” This is soild advice, and a postive approach includes plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables. A raw food diet is usually considered consuming about 60-70% of your food (and therefore the same percentage in calories) as raw food. For most people this will be foods like fresh fruits and fresh vegetables.
